Gateway Entertainment's National Day Celebratory Performance

On 9th August 2014, the Magic of Lawrence and Priscilla (MOLP) celebrated Singapore’s 49th National Day at the Shanghai Pudong Shangri-La Hotel. On invitation by the Shanghai-Singapore Business Association (SSBA), Gateway Entertainment’s (GE) master illusionists Lawrence and Priscilla Khong, presented a spectacular 30-minute opening performance to kick off the celebrations. It was also a sneak peek for the audience of GE’s magic-theatre extravaganza, VISION, which debuts at the Shanghai Culture Square this October.

Guests present that evening, including Consulate-General Mr Ong Siew Gay and SSBA President Mr Chong Kok Leong, and VIPs from Singapore’s top companies like DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, United Overseas Bank, CapitaLand, BreadTalk and Temasek, were treated to a magnificent flurry of world-class illusions such as Smoke Blamo, Op Art, Sawing A Woman In Half, and Voikos Levitation

In keeping with the spirit and focus of this year’s National Day Parade – “Our People, Our Home”, MOLP designed and performed a special illusion where Lawrence Khong reminded the audience, in particular the Singaporeans that home is where the heart is! Isaac Khong, Lawrence Khong’s grandson, made his appearance with the Singapore flag, much to the delight of the audience. For many Singaporeans who have been living abroad in Shanghai, it was a timely reminder and a fond tug on their heartstrings that Singapore will always be their home, where they truly belong.
